The airport publishes the city services currently using its stops, where those stops are and how tickets work. Check that page on arrival because temporary works can change the practical route.

Use the official taxi information and confirm the destination before departure. A central hotel name is not always enough when several properties or entrances have similar wording.

Do not over-plan the arrival day
A delayed flight, baggage and the hotel transfer reduce usable time. Keep the first evening close to the stay area and move a major museum or neighbourhood circuit to a full day.

Choose the stay area before the transfer
Old Town, the city centre and Kalamaja create different final approaches. Compare the practical entrance, walking surface and late-arrival access before deciding that the shortest map distance is best.
Current public-transport starting point
At the 24 August 2026 check, Tallinn Airport lists city buses 2, 13, 15 and 49. Bus 2 stops on Tartu maantee; the others use the terminal stop. Because nearby works can change stop locations, open the airport's public-transport page when you land rather than relying on an old route screenshot.
A contactless bank card can buy a single ticket at the front validator, and a ticket machine is available by the airport transport centre. Check the current Tallinn ticket instructions before travel.
Taxi choice
The airport says taxi fares are not capped by law. Use an official airport partner or an app that shows the estimate, and confirm the exact hotel entrance before departure. The airport is close to central Tallinn, but a short distance is not a guaranteed travel time.
